I can tell you that for a journalist or anyone that takes copious notes in the field, the Capturx pen is an incredible recording device. As you record data in your special notebook, you not only have your original notes, but when you plug the digital pen back into the docking station at the end of the day or end of the interview, all your notes appear on your computer screen.br/br/[[ This is a content summary only. Gps insights amp;mdash; late september 2008
I certainly do not mean to sound jaded; I am totally in favor of fully populated GLONASS, Galileo, and GPS IIF constellations. Both non-U.S. programs represent positive developments in the GNSS world, but one cannot help but marvel at the irony, audacity, and incredible rhetoric of some of the ION plenary presentations.br/br/[[ This is a content summary only. Expert advice: interoperability, from signals to integrity
For the user to combine systems using interoperable integrity mechanisms, the integrity information received from each of the systems must be based on the same concepts and definitions. There is a risk of having different receiver standards at regional level, and the lack of an agreed GNSS baseline on integrity could delay the ongoing transition to GNSS in aviation. Thus, reinforcing...br/br/[[ This is a content summary only. Perspectives — early march 2008
There has been a lot of activity on both the civilian and military sides of GPS/GNSS these past few weeks. Instead of a central theme to this newsletter, I'm going to comment on three points of interest: a DoD directive regarding position, navigation, and timing; PRN32; and some new product developments.

Gps insights amp;mdash; early august 2008
Apple's iPhone and iTouch application development capability overall allows you and me as well as the military and government user to write programs for the devices. If there is a capability out there that the warfighter needs and does not have, they now have the capability to write the program personally or contract with a software geek, or someone who can write code.br/br/[[ This is a content summary only. Satellite (gps, glonass, sbas) mission planning
I’ve been receiving some questions about satellite availability. The complaint is that there aren’t enough for RTK (real-time cm-level positioning) operations during some parts of the day. Some who have been using RTK for many years say that “brown-outs” (RTK down-time) are as bad as they seen in a few years. Certainly, if you’re working with GPS-only, there’s going to be some “brown-outs” during...

Swimming with the economic sharks
Iamp;rsquo;m delighted to introduce myself as the editor of GPS Worldamp;rsquo;s new Professional Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) e-mail newsletter, which will be issued every month on the third Wednesday. I look forward to exploring with you the many issues facing the high-precision OEM segment of the GNSS industry amp;mdash; and its considerable successes. With simultaneous recessions projected in the United States, Europe, and Japan by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, no doubt 2009 will be a brutal time for many companies involved in the GNSS industry. Despite the overall economic gloom and doom, however, I remain cautiously optimistic for those professional GNSS sectors that have the right survival traits.img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/gpsworld/MMOEM/~4/520429221" height="1" width="1"/
