Tomtom xl live europe gps navigator

TomTom company continues the uphill fight to maintain financial stability in the PND market with the launch of the TomTom XL LIVE Europe GPS navigator today. The company has obviously realized it needs to offer high-end features on entry-level and mid-range devices this year in order to (hopefully) bump up sales. And that’s what is happening here.

The XL LIVE Europe GPS finally takes connected services and HD Traffic across the entire European continent rather than confining it to the UK. Smart move on TomTom’s part here because Europe is TomTom’s strongest market. Other than that the XL LIVE features a 4.3-inch widescreen display and most of the features of previously released ONE IQ Routes PND.

HD Traffic and other connected services will add ?7.99 per month onto the purchase price of ?249.99, but you’ll get the first three months free. You’ll also have access to Google Search, local gas prices, weather reports and speed camera alerts.

Look for the TomTom XL LIVE Europe PND to launch across Europe next month.

Survey & construction newsletter, early december

As much as GPS World's 2008 GNSS Election was designed for entertainment value, the arguments from both parties are real world, and from people waist-deep in GNSS receiver and infrastructure development. In reality, nations around the world are pushing forth with both the Satellite Party and Signal Party initiatives.

Business outlook — stable forecast despite turbulent times

Many factors have come into play in the last six to eight months, affecting GNSS company stock prices, earnings, and shareholder value. Acquisitions and mergers over a two-year period have reshaped the playing field, as current GPS/LBS players seek to expand their offerings and major new players hunt a piece of the action. To be sure, the pure-play PND consumer market is down due to economic factors and limited disposable income; this affects the chip sector as well. Surveying sales have slowed due to housing slump in the U.S. and abroad. Precision agriculture use of GNSS products seems to hold steady, thanks to the widescale upswing of biofuel production. Fleet tracking is enjoying a come-back as GPS navigation and routing are clearly viewed as must-haves to economize on transportation fuel costs.
