Garmin introduces gps tracking receiver

Garmin International, Inc. announced that it is entering a new market – personal and property tracking – with the introduction of its innovative GTU 10 GPS locator and web-based Garmin Tracker service for computers, smartphones and compatible Garmin nüLink devices.

Glonass launches planned for spring

The launch of the GLONASS-K1 satellite from Plesetsk has been put off until sometime in the first quarter of 2011. A single GLONASS-M satellite is to be launched in March using a Soyuz-2-1B/Fregat rocket from Plesetsk.

Michibiki qzss satellite now operating in regular mode

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has issued a press release on behalf of several government organizations announcing that all functions and performance on the Michibiki satellite were verified to be normal, and that the operation of Michibiki was advanced to regular mode on December 13. JAXA switched all positioning signals to the standard code at 11:48 a.m. on December 15 (JST).

Waas prn 135 satellite ceases broadcast

The Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) Intelsat CRW geostationary (GEO) satellite has ceased broadcasting the WAAS signal as of December 16, 2010. Javad gnss to hold workshops on new triumph-vs receiver

JAVAD GNSS is holding workshops on its TRIUMPH-VS receivers on Monday, January 10, and Tuesday, January 11, in its San Jose facilities. The workshop is open and free to all. Customers who have purchased TRIUMPH-VS can take their TRIUMPH-VS with them or JAVAD GNSS will ship their units to their addresses.

Fleetmatics closes investment deal

FleetMatics, which provides GPS tracking applications for commercial fleets, has closed a $68 million growth equity financing deal. As part of the round, Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), one of the premier later-stage venture capital and growth equity firms, invested with Investcorp Technology Partners, FleetMatics’ majority owner. New World Ventures also participated as a new investor.
