Today, Hemisphere GPS announced the release of two very compact GPS compass products: the V102 all-in-one and the H102 OEM module. These products are designed to meet heading and positioning needs for marine and land-based applications such as yacht navigation, auto-pilot, and machine guidance for earth-moving machinery.

Air force lab goal: bird-sized uavs by 2015
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is working to design and build unmanned autonomous vehicles (UAVs) as small as a bird, or even a large insect, according to Mikel Miller, chief scientist for the Munitions Directorate AFRL at Eglin Air Force Base.

Glonass moves and other news
GLONASS now has 22 healthy satellites in operation. After the GLONASS launch failure in December, two satellites were moved to help maintain GLONASS coverage. A next-generation GLONASS-K1 launch is scheduled for February 25. A recent episode of the long-running Russian TV science program "Obvious, But Incredible" features a lengthy GLONASS segment.
